The Auction Has Closed

Bidding Has Closed For The Charity Auction

I wanted to do a quick post to let everyone know that bidding has closed for the auction. I am in the process of adding up totals for all winners and will be emailing everyone tomorrow, Monday September 10th. If you are a winner, expect to receive an email from me at some point tomorrow with your total, and where you can send payment.

I want to thank EVERYONE that participated in this auction...whether it was bidding, donating polish, or simply emailing to say you were sending your support. It has been an AMAZING week, and I couldnt be more grateful to everyone. I am so excited that we are able to help such a dear woman, and she is eternally grateful to all those who have offered help.

Again, I'd like to offer a special thank you to the ladies who so graciously donated items to the auction, Leah Ann LaRowe of Llarowe, Kim Snyder of Overall Beauty, Pam Heil of Girly Bits, Jody Alu of SoFlaJo, Sandy Gallo of Dandy Nails, Dolly of Dollish Polish and Lynnderella. None of this would have been possible without your contributions!

My eyes are sort of going crossed from staring at the computer screen, so I'm going to bid you all goodnight. And again THANK YOU!!

Em

Polish for a Cause, A Silent Auction for a Dear Friend

Polish for a Cause:

A Silent Auction for a Polish Friend in Need

Hi friends. I know I've been absent all summer, and I'm so so sorry :( But I wanted to reach out you to first to say I'm coming back to blogging! And second to ask for your help with something very close to my heart.

I have met some truely amazing woman through nail polish, as I'm sure many of you have as well. I am blessed to have met some ladies that have become more than just "polish friends" but real, true friends. Recently, one of those dear friends has been suffering from complications of a life long illness, Type 1 Diabetes. She is unable to work due to those complications, and without health insurance has incured a great deal of medical bills. She has been turned down for disability, and Medicare multiple times. And yet, she is still one of the sweetest, and most caring people I've ever "met".

So, together with an amazing group of people that have donated to this auction, I am asking for your help. I have 39 bottles of polish **UPDATE WE NOW HAVE 46 bottles**, some indies, some HTF, some international stuff, its a pretty good mix. I will be holding the auction starting tonight Monday, September 3rd, 2012 when this post is published, until Sunday, September 9th 2012 at 8pm eastern standard time. The auction is open to ALL bidders in the US and international. I will keep the identities of the bidders private, but I will update the current bids on the spreadsheet twice a day, at 11am and 11pm est. All bids must be emailed to Emorris21@gmail.com. All winners will be notified by email on Monday September 10th 2012, and are expected to send payment via PayPal within 24 hours of that email being sent.
ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS AUCTION WILL GO TO THE RECIPIENT, I AM ACTING ONLY AS THE AUCTION HOLDER AND SHIPPER.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me. Thank you in advance for your generosity and caring.

**UPDATE** More items still being added!! Please continue to check back!!

And thank you to Leah Ann LaRowe of Llarowe, Kim Snyder of Overall Beauty, Pam Heil of Girly Bits and Lynnderella for your generous donations to this most deserving cause.

Rescue Beauty Scrangie & Models Own Ibiza Mix

Well holo there! I'm baaaaack!

Hi there my very very patient friends! I'm so very sorry I've been absent for the last few weeks. Bad bad Emily! We've been super-de-duper busy at work, and I've been too drained by the time I get home to play :( But I've missed you!!

Sooooo...you wanna talk nailz and schtuff?? kk?? Me toooooo!!

So a few weeks back when Rescue Beauty Lounge put the remaining stock of the Fan Collection up for public sale, some friends and I decided it was time to cave and make our first RBL purchases. We decided to do it as a group buy, as purchases over $100.00 get free shipping...wahoo! Surprise, surprise, we ALL ordered Scrangie. This polish has been a MAJOR lemming of mine for quite some time. First off, the polish is amazing...I adore purples to begin with, but the green shimmer in this one is just gorgeous! And second, who can resist a polish created by the blogging "living legend" Scrangie herself! Seriously, she could sell me bottled poop, sour milk, rotten garbage...you name it, if I've seen it on her blog, I probably think to myself "wow, she really pulls that off". But whoa is me, never looks as good on me, as it does on her lol, go figure!

So here she is, the lady, the legend, the polish...SCRANGIE!
(dressed up with a little MO Ibiza Mix for fun on the ring finger)

Check out that beautiful shimmer! Sooo hard to capture!

Hed Kandi-Ibiza Mix aka-Jewels in a Bottle :)

Bedazzled!

Little blurred to show the shimmer

There ya have it folks! Not a new polish to most, but certainly one worth looking at over and over! The shimmer is definitely camera shy, but oh so gorgeous. And one small editors note, puh-lease excuse my sad red cuticles, they've been ignored recently just like my blog :(

Where to buy these beauties you ask? RBL polishes are available exclusively from their website and retail for $20.00. Scrangie was a limited edition polish from Fall 2009, which was brought back by popular demand. Once an RBL polish sells out there is no guarantee it will EVER come back, so if you really want this one, I don't suggest waiting! Model's Own Ibiza Mix is part of the Limited Edition Hed Kandi collection and can be purchased directly through Model's Own for 5gbp plus international shipping or from their lovely North American stockist Harlow & Co for $10, plus all orders over $50 ship for free!!!

Till next time,

FEVERLacquer I Blame the Fireworks & A England Princess Tears

Prepare to blown away with hairy holo goodness!

Well hello there! Welcome back! How was your weekend?? Do anything fun and exciting? We went to a craft show on Saturday and bought a crap-ton of puppy biscuits and a left handed knife! Very exciting, I know :) And if you're asking if its safe for me to own my very own left handed knife...the answer is probably no. But this thing is genius! It can freakin' cut anything into microscopic slices without smashing it or anything (I watched the demo 356304 times). I eye it up every year at this craft show, and finally caved and bought it...and again, I'm sure I'm definitely going to cut off one of my precious fingers with it. And its sure going to suck to have one less nail :(

The Adirondack Bow Knife
Sweet! Right???

So that was my exciting weekend :)
Now onward with the polish talk! Today I have a combo featuring A England's current "Gem of the Month" Princess Tears. I can't say enough about A England polishes, I have the entire Legends Collection and over half of The Mythicals as well. Adina from A England is a rock star, she designs amazing polishes, in unique colors, that apply like butter (some are even ONE COATERS)! Princess Tears is a lilac holographic polish, with grey, almost charcoal duochromatic tones in it, making it not your average lavender or lilac holo. I should have taken pics of this polish on its own before applying the other half of the combo!!

The second half of the combo is a polish created by my good friend Casandra from FEVERLacquer and The Mani-Logues. One of my very favorite things about nail polish, (besides huffing it into the wee hours of the morning) is all the amazing ladies I've met and have come to befriend through polish. I have several of Cas' polishes and have been so impressed, when she told us her ideas on this new one I was super psyched! Now I never used to be a fan of bar...erm hairy (haha) glitter, but this polish has certainly changed my mind on that! I Blame The Fireworks is SWIMMING with hairy holos in a light lavender pigment so I thought it would play nicely with Princess Tears.

Without further adieu...

Artificial lighting for these.
Two coats of each polish,
plus one thick coat of Seche Vite

...and one last bonus blurred holo, super hairy pic for the cheap seats in the back:)

So what do you think? My photos just can't do this polish justice. I'll add some natural light pics to my facebook tomorrow, so you can really see the FIREWORKS!! This is what I get for blogging at 10pm :)

A England polishes can be purchased directly from their website or from one of their many stockists like llarowe. FEVERLacquer can be purchased through Cas' webstore which she will be restocking soon :)

Or...you could try your luck and WIN a bottle of I Blame the Fireworks in my "A Few of My Favorite Things Giveaway"!! Details coming tonight!

Till Next Time,
<3, Em

Alta Costura Vernis Brightside & Kat Von D Sparklehorse

So you came here for nails right?

Time to get the party started!!

Well, on a semi-serious (we wont have many of those around here) note, I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who came over here and joined me today! I was blown away to hop on the computer this evening and see that I already had followers! Perhaps a lil' giveaway is in order this weekend **wink, wink**, tomorrow is payday afterall! But really, thank you, especially to those of you who went out on a limb and shared this blog with your own fans! It means a lot to me :)

Okay, enough with the sappy stuff...moving on, all aboard the indie polish train!! CHUG-A-CHUG-A-CHUG-A-CHUG-A-CHOOOO-CHOOO!!
So most everyone has already boarded this train by now. Unless of course you live under a rock, or just hate glitter *gasp*!! So, if you happen to be that one rock-dwelling glitter hater, we've got room left for you on the Etsy caboose. But, I must forewarn you, Bosley, my mini schnauzer rides back there, and he has awful Alpo gas...ewwwww. Just follow Dora, and hold your nose.

So today I'd like to show you a polish from a relative newcomer to the Etsy game. I discovered Alta Costura Vernis through one of my friends, and when I saw she had restocked some of her neon glitter polishes, I immediately pounced on them. I'm certainly glad I did, as she sold out lickety-split!

Here's a pic of todays beauties!
On the left we have Kat Von D High Voltage Sparkle Horse
and on the right Alta Costura's Brightside

Hows about a sexy bottle shot?
Ohhhh yea!

For the following pictures, I used two coats of Sparklehorse on my entire hand, and added two coats of Brightside on the accent nails. Both polishes were easy to apply. Sparklehorse is super shimmery, and shines like a bright sunshining day (cue the music), perfectly opaque in two coats. For the accent nails I also used Lynnderella Glitter Tamer, as these matte glitters seem to be pretty gritty. Glitter Tamer is a DREAM, smells like it got dumped out of the back of a 747, but slicks those glitters like a zamboni on a hockey rink :)

Artificial light, no flash for these.

Love the artwork on Kat's bottles

There we have it kids...my first official nail post! Isnt Alta Costura awesome!?! Her Etsy shop is currently on vacation, but she should be restocking in the next few weeks. The Kat Von D Hight Voltage Lacquers are available at sephora.com and at your local Sephora stores.

Till next time,
<3 Em

The Inaugural Post!

Wednesday, April 25th 2012

Welcome to the Madhouse!

 **maniacal laugh, maniacal laugh**

So wow, if you are reading this, and you aren't just me editing it, you made it here! Who-rah! Someone made it here! Come closer so that I may hug you!

Anywho, this blog has been something I've wanted to do for quite sometime, but quite frankly just haven't been able to work up the guts to hit POST for the first time. So here I am, just another gal in a very crowded blogosphere, full of many, many talented nail polish bloggers. Where I fit into that, I'm not quite sure. But if I keep coming over here and staring at this thing for hours at a time I'm going to go cross-eyed. So lets do it :) I can't promise you something new and never before seen, nor will I be someone posting everyday...and sometimes perhaps it won't even be about polish, perhaps I'll just throw in a YOTD (yorkie of the day)! But, we'll have some fun, make fun of me a little, or a lot and just hang out.

Sound like a plan...

Ok.
you there.
one person reading...
WAKE UP!!!!

I'm going to start my actual post now :)

So this is why I wanted to start a blog. I work at a very large physician practice, the space we occupy used to be a supermarket (I'm not kidding). And everyone in this office has to wear khaki shirts and black pants. Yes, Boring to the MAX! And we're all little boring khaki clones of one another. So polish quickly became my ONLY way to personalize my outfit:) It started with a couple OPI, as I suspect many people started their collections. And then right around New Years, I discovered llarowe. Game over. Resistance is futile. And now my stash is somewhere around 500...in 4 months. ECK!!
Thats him. Thats the damn shirt.

So theres my background story, I guess I should stand up and state my name. Hello Friends, My Name is Emily and I am a polish-aholic.
I'm not in denial...but I've got no plans of stopping ;)

Till Tomorrow
<3 Em
