FEVERLacquer I Blame the Fireworks & A England Princess Tears

Prepare to blown away with hairy holo goodness!

Well hello there! Welcome back! How was your weekend?? Do anything fun and exciting? We went to a craft show on Saturday and bought a crap-ton of puppy biscuits and a left handed knife! Very exciting, I know :) And if you're asking if its safe for me to own my very own left handed knife...the answer is probably no. But this thing is genius! It can freakin' cut anything into microscopic slices without smashing it or anything (I watched the demo 356304 times). I eye it up every year at this craft show, and finally caved and bought it...and again, I'm sure I'm definitely going to cut off one of my precious fingers with it. And its sure going to suck to have one less nail :(

The Adirondack Bow Knife
Sweet! Right???

So that was my exciting weekend :)
Now onward with the polish talk! Today I have a combo featuring A England's current "Gem of the Month" Princess Tears. I can't say enough about A England polishes, I have the entire Legends Collection and over half of The Mythicals as well. Adina from A England is a rock star, she designs amazing polishes, in unique colors, that apply like butter (some are even ONE COATERS)! Princess Tears is a lilac holographic polish, with grey, almost charcoal duochromatic tones in it, making it not your average lavender or lilac holo. I should have taken pics of this polish on its own before applying the other half of the combo!!

The second half of the combo is a polish created by my good friend Casandra from FEVERLacquer and The Mani-Logues. One of my very favorite things about nail polish, (besides huffing it into the wee hours of the morning) is all the amazing ladies I've met and have come to befriend through polish. I have several of Cas' polishes and have been so impressed, when she told us her ideas on this new one I was super psyched! Now I never used to be a fan of bar...erm hairy (haha) glitter, but this polish has certainly changed my mind on that! I Blame The Fireworks is SWIMMING with hairy holos in a light lavender pigment so I thought it would play nicely with Princess Tears.

Without further adieu...

Artificial lighting for these.
Two coats of each polish,
plus one thick coat of Seche Vite

...and one last bonus blurred holo, super hairy pic for the cheap seats in the back:)

So what do you think? My photos just can't do this polish justice. I'll add some natural light pics to my facebook tomorrow, so you can really see the FIREWORKS!! This is what I get for blogging at 10pm :)

A England polishes can be purchased directly from their website or from one of their many stockists like llarowe. FEVERLacquer can be purchased through Cas' webstore which she will be restocking soon :)

Or...you could try your luck and WIN a bottle of I Blame the Fireworks in my "A Few of My Favorite Things Giveaway"!! Details coming tonight!

Till Next Time,

Alta Costura Vernis Brightside & Kat Von D Sparklehorse

So you came here for nails right?

Time to get the party started!!

Well, on a semi-serious (we wont have many of those around here) note, I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who came over here and joined me today! I was blown away to hop on the computer this evening and see that I already had followers! Perhaps a lil' giveaway is in order this weekend **wink, wink**, tomorrow is payday afterall! But really, thank you, especially to those of you who went out on a limb and shared this blog with your own fans! It means a lot to me :)

Okay, enough with the sappy stuff...moving on, all aboard the indie polish train!! CHUG-A-CHUG-A-CHUG-A-CHUG-A-CHOOOO-CHOOO!!
So most everyone has already boarded this train by now. Unless of course you live under a rock, or just hate glitter *gasp*!! So, if you happen to be that one rock-dwelling glitter hater, we've got room left for you on the Etsy caboose. But, I must forewarn you, Bosley, my mini schnauzer rides back there, and he has awful Alpo gas...ewwwww. Just follow Dora, and hold your nose.

So today I'd like to show you a polish from a relative newcomer to the Etsy game. I discovered Alta Costura Vernis through one of my friends, and when I saw she had restocked some of her neon glitter polishes, I immediately pounced on them. I'm certainly glad I did, as she sold out lickety-split!

Here's a pic of todays beauties!
On the left we have Kat Von D High Voltage Sparkle Horse
and on the right Alta Costura's Brightside

Hows about a sexy bottle shot?
Ohhhh yea!

For the following pictures, I used two coats of Sparklehorse on my entire hand, and added two coats of Brightside on the accent nails. Both polishes were easy to apply. Sparklehorse is super shimmery, and shines like a bright sunshining day (cue the music), perfectly opaque in two coats. For the accent nails I also used Lynnderella Glitter Tamer, as these matte glitters seem to be pretty gritty. Glitter Tamer is a DREAM, smells like it got dumped out of the back of a 747, but slicks those glitters like a zamboni on a hockey rink :)

Artificial light, no flash for these.

Love the artwork on Kat's bottles

There we have it kids...my first official nail post! Isnt Alta Costura awesome!?! Her Etsy shop is currently on vacation, but she should be restocking in the next few weeks. The Kat Von D Hight Voltage Lacquers are available at sephora.com and at your local Sephora stores.

Till next time,
<3 Em

The Inaugural Post!

Wednesday, April 25th 2012

Welcome to the Madhouse!

 **maniacal laugh, maniacal laugh**

So wow, if you are reading this, and you aren't just me editing it, you made it here! Who-rah! Someone made it here! Come closer so that I may hug you!

Anywho, this blog has been something I've wanted to do for quite sometime, but quite frankly just haven't been able to work up the guts to hit POST for the first time. So here I am, just another gal in a very crowded blogosphere, full of many, many talented nail polish bloggers. Where I fit into that, I'm not quite sure. But if I keep coming over here and staring at this thing for hours at a time I'm going to go cross-eyed. So lets do it :) I can't promise you something new and never before seen, nor will I be someone posting everyday...and sometimes perhaps it won't even be about polish, perhaps I'll just throw in a YOTD (yorkie of the day)! But, we'll have some fun, make fun of me a little, or a lot and just hang out.

Sound like a plan...

Ok.
you there.

WAKE UP!!!!

I'm going to start my actual post now :)

So this is why I wanted to start a blog. I work at a very large physician practice, the space we occupy used to be a supermarket (I'm not kidding). And everyone in this office has to wear khaki shirts and black pants. Yes, Boring to the MAX! And we're all little boring khaki clones of one another. So polish quickly became my ONLY way to personalize my outfit:) It started with a couple OPI, as I suspect many people started their collections. And then right around New Years, I discovered llarowe. Game over. Resistance is futile. And now my stash is somewhere around 500...in 4 months. ECK!!
Thats him. Thats the damn shirt.

So theres my background story, I guess I should stand up and state my name. Hello Friends, My Name is Emily and I am a polish-aholic.
I'm not in denial...but I've got no plans of stopping ;)

Till Tomorrow
